A Sarnia man was jailed one month for slamming his vehicle into a minivan full of children while he was high on drugs.

“How dare you get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle in that condition. How dare you, sir. You’re lucky that you’re getting a sentence of 30 days in jail,” Justice Mark Poland said to Nathan Speed as he also handed him a restitution bill for about $20,000.

Speed was driving a red 2017 GMC Acadia that didn’t belong to him west on Devine Street shortly after noon on March 1. Another motorist behind him saw Speed fall asleep as they both stopped at the stop sign at Ontario Street.
