A 19-year-old man is dead after being shot by a police officer at a Mississauga home on Thursday.
The man was a suspect in a stabbing that sent one victim to hospital in the afternoon, Peel police said in a post on social media.
Officers responded to a call about an injured man at 2:30 p.m. on Greensboro Drive , the Special Investigations Unit, Ontario’s police watchdog, said in a Thursday news release .
A 39-year-old man was found suffering from stab wounds in the residence and was taken to hospital, the SIU said. It was later determined he was stabbed by a family member in a residence nearby and was seeking help at a neighbour’s home, SIU spokesperson Kristy Denette told reporters Thursday night.
Officers with police dogs attended the victim’s home and “attempted to negotiate”
