AUBURN HILLS – The host Auburn Hills Avondale Yellow Jackets pulled away in the second quarter and rolled to a 69-51 win over the West Bloomfield Lakers on Thursday night.

Avondale’s rebounding and defense set the tone before intermission. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Lakers 21-7 in the second quarter to lead 28-14 at the half as they dominated on the glass and forced the Lakers out of any sense of offensive rhythm.

“They’re a good team. They shoot the ball well, and they play well at home, so when you let them get up, it’s hard to get back,” Lakers head coach Arnette Jordan said. “So we expected it to be a tough task to come in here.”
