JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- Field Grace Elementary School unveiled a new playground, thanks to a partnership with the Casey Fork Solar Farm.
Jennifer Arnold, Superintendent for the Field Community Consolidated School District said, "They have been very helpful in giving us funds to have a new playground, which was much needed."
The solar farm, located on nearly 800 acres with 350,000 solar panels, is nearing completion.
RWE site manager, Justin Fredlund says the farm will generate 150 mega-watts. He says that is enough to power 25,000 homes.
"So over the life of the project, we should bring in approximately $22 million in property taxes with $13 million of that specifically for local schools," Fredlund said.
