MASSAC COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Illinois Department of Transportation announced all lanes on the Interstate 24 Ohio River Bridge in Massac County will reopen by the end of the day on Dec. 12. This marks the completion of Phase 1 of the $38 million rehabilitation project.
Phase 1 included deck repairs, steel work, and joint replacements to upgrade the interstate crossing over the Ohio River. Lane restrictions will start again when Phase 2 begins on March 1, 2026.
Motorists are reminded to slow down in the work zone, obey posted speed limits, watch for message boards and changed conditions, avoid using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment.
