New Delhi, Dec 12: The Lok Sabha was adjourned till noon on Friday after paying tributes to veteran Congress leader and former Speaker Shivraj Patil, who passed away earlier in the day at the age of 90. Speaker Om Birla announced Patil’s demise as the House convened and led members in remembering his long public service as Lok Sabha Speaker, Union Home Minister, and Governor.
The House also honoured the nine security personnel who were martyred in the December 13, 2001 Parliament terror attack. Birla recalled the sacrifice of personnel from the Parliament Security Service, Delhi Police, and CRPF who died defending the nation’s highest democratic institution.
