More than two dozen New York hospitals were included on the U.S. News & World Report's 2026 list of best hospitals for maternity care in the nation.

The rankings used a range of quality measures, including C-section rates in lower-risk pregnancies, severe unexpected newborn complication rates and exclusive breast milk feeding rates, among other criteria, U.S. News said in a statement.

Overall, 901 hospitals across the country submitted maternity data for evaluation. Of that, about 55% made the list of top hospitals with a "high performing" maternity care designation, including the 26 in New York.

The ratings aim to "assist expectant parents, in consultation with their prenatal care providers, in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity care for uncomplicated births,"
