A football club and an artist have kicked off a new collaboration.

York City FC and artist Lucy Pittaway have teamed up to create a special work of art celebrating the club, marking the first partnership of its kind for both the artist and the club.

The painting, unveiled at a VIP event at the Lucy Pittaway Gallery in Coppergate, York, is titled The Minstermen and features Pittaway’s signature sheep character wearing York City colours in front of the York Minster.

Lucy Pittaway, artist, said: "I am thrilled to be working alongside York City FC in this way.

"Football has been such an important part of my life, and I know how passionate fans are about their teams.

"I loved creating The Minstermen and I hope the team’s fans enjoy the piece.
