Ongoing Smart City CCTV cable-laying work from has raised serious safety concerns among residents, who allege that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and contractors are risking public safety in the name of development.

The Pune–Solapur road is a highly busy stretch, witnessing thousands of vehicles daily. Several Marathi and English-medium schools are located in the Bhairoba Nala and Fatimanagar areas. Students from commute through this route on foot or by vehicle.

However, due to excavation work being carried out directly on the footpath, students and parents are being forced to walk on the main road, significantly increasing the risk of accidents.
