A week after the US State Department announced that it would begin social media screening of H-1B applicants and their dependents, the US Embassy in India announced the postponement of temporary work visa interviews that were scheduled for mid-December. The move has sent shockwaves through the work-visa community and has created uncertainty for individuals planning to travel to the US in the coming months.

Experts have advised H-1B holders not to travel to India , warning that doing so could risk their jobs because of the postponement of interviews. Those already in India must wait for rescheduled dates, especially applicants who have completed the Visa Application Center (VAC) process.
