Information reaching this publication indicates that Vitumbiko Mumba, a former Minister of Trade and running mate for the Malawi Congress Party in the 16 September elections, has been arrested at his residence in Area 47, Sector 1.
Police said they had obtained a search warrant from the Lilongwe Senior Resident Magistrate Court before carrying out the arrest.
Mumba has been taken to Lingadzi Police Station, where he is currently being held.
