HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - On this date in 1907, the famous Adkins bankruptcy case out of Lincoln County, WV, led to the sentencing of 10 people in federal court.
They were accused of running a scam through a storefront in Harts.
However, to cover it up, various members of the family were accused of burning down homes and killing people who knew too much.
Fred Akins was the centerpiece because he had taken a loan from a bank in Huntington to start the store, but never paid any of the money back.
But it turned into something you would expect in a Hollywood movie.
