A biker who was left fighting for his life in hospital after a crash involving an Audi is still receiving treatment nearly a week on.

Police say a probe is still ongoing into the smash on Truro Drive at the junction of the A689 in Hartlepool at 8.10pm on Sunday (December 7).

The rider of the motorbike suffered a serious head injury and was taken to James Cook University Hospital and two pillion passengers were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Audi did not sustain any serious injuries.

The crash forced the road to be closed for five hours, and it was re-opened shortly before 2am on Monday (December 8).
