The Notre Dame football program made the decision to opt out of a bowl game after being left out of the College Football Playoff in a controversial move .
“As a team, we’ve decided to withdraw our name from consideration for a bowl game following the 2025 season,” the Notre Dame football program said in a statement .
“We appreciate all the support from our families and fans, and we’re hoping to bring the 12th national title to South Bend in 2026.”
Needless to say, a lot of people were unhappy with Notre Dame’s decision. That includes Utah governor Spencer Cox, who called out the Fighting Irish.
If Notre Dame would have played in a bowl game, it was projected to take on BYU in the Pop-Tarts Bowl.
However, instead, the Cougars will face Georgia Tech in the Pop-Tarts Bowl on Dec. 27.
