A Toronto-area Conservative MP has crossed the floor to join the governing Liberals. This move strengthens Prime Minister Mark Carney’s minority government and delivers a setback to the Conservative opposition.
Michael Ma, the MP for Markham–Unionville, announced Thursday that he is leaving the Conservative caucus to sit with the Liberals. The move came just hours after Parliament rose for the fall session and was confirmed in a statement distributed by the Liberal Party.
