SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho — Three people were rescued after being trapped in their home, unable to evacuate due to swift-moving, rapidly rising floodwaters near Kingston along the Coeur d'Alene River.

Silver Valley Fire Rescue says firefighters coordinated with the Shoshone County Sheriff's Office to carry out a water rescue about eight miles up Coeur d'Alene River Road on Thursday morning.

Members of Silver Valley Fire Rescue’s Swift Water Rescue Team have used the district’s recently acquired rescue boat to navigate the floodwaters and bring two adults and one child safely to higher ground. No injuries were reported.

Shoshone County has declared a state of emergency due to flooding in the areas of the Coeur d'Alene River and the St. Joe River, according to the sheriff's office.
