Agartala, 12 th December 2025: Two months after residents of Raipasha area under Ambassa block staged a road blockade demanding construction of a bridge, frustration is mounting as no work has yet begun. The protest, held on the Assam–Agartala National Highway, was aimed at drawing the administration’s attention. At the time, officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) assured locals that construction would start within five days.

However, residents allege that despite the passage of two months, not a single step has been taken to initiate the project. They claim contractor Rupak Debnath has shown no visible effort to begin work.

In the meantime, the temporary bamboo bridge used by villagers has deteriorated into a dangerous state. Locals warn it could collapse
