A 48-hour weather warning for rain has been issued for much of Greater Manchester this weekend. It comes into force at 6pm tomorrow (December 13) and lasts until 6pm on Monday.
The Met Office warning covers areas including Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside, plus parts of Manchester, Salford and Wigan boroughs. It also includes the Peak District, Pennines, much of Lancashire and Cumbria.
Forecasters say the worst affected areas could see 200mm of rain accumulate over the 48-hour period, with 50mm to 70mm expected in other areas. Areas of higher ground, and specifically those in Cumbria, are expected to be worst hit.
