The “Building Better Futures” campaign by the Grand Island YWCA is underway after receiving a significant grant , and the Grand Island community has a chance to make a big impact with their donations to the campaign.

John and Deanna Scoot are giving the public until July 2027 to match their donation to the YWCA up to $300,000. The campaign is to build a better future for families that struggle to find child care and day care options. The YWCA plans to renovate the former Starr Elementary School building and transform it into a facility that can watch over 300 kids. The campaign is roughly halfway to its goal.
