HOUSTON — World Cup fever is already hitting Houston — and so is the sticker shock.
A new analysis from The Athletic shows Houston has the single largest hotel price jump of any U.S. city hosting World Cup matches, with room rates surging dramatically since the official match schedule was released.
According to the analysis, hotel prices in Houston have jumped 457% since the schedule came out, outpacing every other host city in the country.
Prices near NRG Stadium climbing even higher
The sharpest increases are showing up around NRG Stadium, where Houston is set to host World Cup matches.
For the Germany–Curaçao match on June 14, some hotel prices have spiked far beyond the citywide average.
