STEWARTVILLE, Minn. — Stewartville Public Schools are closed Friday, December 12, due to an emergency at the high school campus.

According to Superintendent of Byron Public Schools Nate Walburch , a shooting occurred in the parking lot of Stewartville High School. Byron Public Schools has confirmed with law enforcement. There is no safety concern at this time.

KIMT has confirmed a press conference is expected to be held at the High School sometime Friday to provide additional information.

School officials have instructed employees not to report to the campus Friday. A significant police presence, along with a Bureau of Criminal Investigation bus, has been observed at the high school.

The school urges everyone to avoid the campus until further information is released.
