Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena on Friday approved the grant of honorary ranks – one level above the current post – to lower-ranking Delhi Police personnel, from the ranks of constable to sub-inspector (SI), on the day of superannuation.
While the decision is expected to benefit more than 88,000 personnel, it will not amount to financial pensionary benefits, Raj Niwas officials said.
Delhi Police personnel in non-gazetted ranks – SI, assistant sub-inspectors (ASI), head constables and constables – will be eligible for the honorary promotion provided they meet three key criteria. These are completion of a minimum of two years in their current rank, having a good Annual Performance Appraisal Report (APAR) for the last five years and not having faced any major punishment during the service
