Bright and early, like around 6:44 a.m., the MBTA announced a Red Line train had succumbed to the cold, or something, and simply died near Harvard Square. The T finally announced at 8:58 that it had shoved ol' Bessy behind the barn and normal service had resumed.

The train was heading inbound at the time, but, of course, as it sat there, blocking all the trains behind it, that eventually led to delays outbound as well, as Ari Ofsevit reported at 8:35 a..m.:

The dam has broken going southbound, but there is now a *30 minute* service gap northbound.
