Dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi on Friday, criticised the sentencing in the actress assault case , saying the court’s decision failed to take the survivor into account. She said the judgment effectively felt like “a life sentence for the survivor”.

On Monday, the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Judge Honey M Varghese sentenced six accused, including Pulsar Suni to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹50,000.

Bhagyalakshmi said the court considered the age and family background of the convicts but did not factor in the survivor’s “life or age”.

“What kind of injustice is this? What does this even mean? They look at his age, his life, his mother… The survivor has no mother, no life, no age? This is injustice. It is unbearable,” she said.
