GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — On Friday, more than a dozen school groups joined 13 ON YOUR SIDE for our School Spirit Challenge Grand Finale!

Each year, we ask West Michigan schools to register for the challenge and collect donations for Toys for Tots . Then, students come to 13 ON YOUR SIDE to drop off their toys and share how they made it happen.

Many schools used incentives like movie days, pizza parties and ice cream buffets to encourage donations. A majority of them surpassed their collection goals.

This year, multiple schools gave back in a more personal way—students at Sheldon Woods Elementary used their own allowances and chore money to buy toys, and students at Belmont Elementary gave up their recess to count and sort donations.
