ATLANTA — The special elections for two State House races concluded Tuesday night with one heading to a runoff as the Democrats claim victory in the other contest.
Some Georgia voters went back to the polls to cast a ballot in Georgia House District 121 , which caters to portions of Clarke and Oconee Counties. Democrat Eric Gisler is the projected winner, beating his Republican challenger Mack Guest IV .
Gisler defeated Guest by a little less than 200 votes, flipping the seat. The vacancy came when State Rep. Marcus Wiedower announced his resignation back in October. The state lawmaker shared he would focus on expanding business opportunities with a real estate development and investment management firm.
Wiedower won with 61% of the vote in 2024, and he held the seat since 201
