Connecticut State Police have identified the man who was killed in a road rage incident this week on Interstate 84 as a 28-year-old Philadelphia truck driver.
Police said Haneef McKnight, of Philadelphia, was struck and killed by a box truck in West Hartford around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Investigators said the drivers were stuck in traffic when a disagreement broke out between McKnight and the other driver. I
“While in congested traffic one of the operators exited their vehicle, ran across the highway, climbed onto the box truck, and a disturbance ensued,” police said in a report Wednesday. Troopers have not said what triggered the confrontation.
During the disturbance, the box truck ran over McKnight, fatally injuring him, police said.
The crash shut down part of the interstate as troopers investigated the scene. The other driver has not been identified.
The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
