A federal agency has issued a warning about butane lighters sold online that it says lack the required child-resistant mechanisms.

People should not use the Jobon butane torch lighters, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

Without the child-resistant features, the lighters pose a risk of injury or death from fires and burns.

About 13,000 of the lighters were sold on Amazon for about $20 from April 2021 through September 2025.

CPSC said the seller, Wenzhou Zhongbang Smoking Set Manufacturing Co., Ltd., doing business as Jobon Official Store, of China, “has not agreed to recall these lighters or offer a remedy to consumers.”
