New Delhi, Dec 12 (UNI) The union Cabinet on Friday approved the scheme for conducting the Census of India 2027, allocating Rs 11,718.24 crore for the massive national exercise.
Announcing the decision at a press conference, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the scale and significance of the upcoming census.
“The Census of India is the largest administrative and statistical exercise in the world, and Census 2027 will continue this legacy with modern digital tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency,” he said.
The Census will be conducted in two phases — the Houselisting and Housing Census from April to September 2026, followed by Population Enumeration in February 2027. For the union Territory of Ladakh and snow-bound regions of Jammu & Ka
