KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Royals have solidified the left side of their infield for years to come.
According to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Passan , the Royals and third baseman Maikel Garcia have agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension with a club option for a sixth year.
Garcia, who will turn 26 ahead of the 2026 season, became a first-time All-Star with a breakout season last year. The Venezuela native had career-bests in batting average (.286) and on-base percentage (.351), along with 170 hits, which ranked 13th in Major League Baseball.
His outstanding play defensively helped Garcia win a Gold Glove at third base during his third full season with the Royals.
