A winter storm warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Friday at 11:41 a.m. valid from Saturday 1 p.m. until Sunday 1 p.m. for Westmoreland Ridges and Fayette Ridges as well as Washington, Greene, Westmoreland and Fayette counties.
"Total snow accumulations between 5 and 8 inches," can be expected according to the weather service. "Localized higher amounts could occur in snow bands."
"Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Travel could be very difficult," adds the weather service. "Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat.
