VAN BUREN TWP., MI — Another potential proposal for a hyperscale data center to power artificial intelligence and other computing technologies has popped up in southeast Michigan.
Panattoni Data Center Group is looking to develop a data center on about 280 acres in Van Buren Township, near Belleville in Wayne County. If the project moves forward and secures approval, thecenter would be constructed north of an I-94 service drive, south of I-275, east of Haggerty Road and west of Hannan Road, according to a flier for an informational open house Thursday, Dec. 11.
While it is unknown what company would use the data center, other data center projects in Michigan are backed by major tech giants, the likes of OpenAI, Oracle and Meta, which owns Facebook.
