SPRINGFIELD — A task force led by the Springfield police Homicide Unit arrested a second suspect Friday in last month’s fatal shooting on Home Street.

Police said 27-year-old Joey Sanchez was arrested at about 7 a.m. on Quincy Street.

Sanchez, of Chicopee, is charged with murder, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, attempted armed robbery and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

At about 10:40 p.m. Nov. 30, officers responded to the 0-100 block of Home Street for a report of a gunshot victim.

Officers located an adult male gunshot victim, later identified as 27-year-old Shain West, of Springfield — inside an apartment.

West was taken to Baystate Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
