Thirty-four people have been arrested following an investigation in an apparent gang that Durham police say has been trafficking guns and drugs in the Greater Toronto Area.
A nine-month investigation, dubbed “Project Hydrogen,” led to the arrests and 139 charges, Durham police Chief Peter Moreira said at a news conference Friday morning.
Investigators seized more than $2.7 million worth of drugs, about $200,000 in Canadian currency, and 10 illegal firearms, Moreira added.
The probe, which launched in April, focused on a group called “44,” Det. Sgt. Brad Corner said at the news conference Friday. The group operates out of Durham Region and across the GTA, Corner added.
