HARRISON — It was over a year ago that Trooper Dakota Kolo of Michigan State Police changed someone’s life. And now he’s being thanked for turning her life around.
Over a year ago, Trooper Kolo arrested Kayla Smith on narcotics charges, an event that Smith later described as life-saving. Following her arrest, Smith entered a recovery program that she credits with transforming her life.
“It was very inspiring to listen to the participants’ stories, specifically Ms. Kayla Smith. Even though Trooper Kolo arrested her, his demeanor and kindness during the arrest had a lasting effect on her,” said Spl/Lt. Ashley Miller, who also attended the graduation.
