The Essex Region Conservation Authority’s board of directors has approved a status quo budget for 2026 — a year filled with uncertainty for conservation agencies across Ontario.

On Thursday, ERCA’s board of directors approved a $13.9-million budget that maintains $3,380,753 in funding from local municipalities.

“This is a great budget at trying times,” said Jim Morrison, a Windsor councillor. “Every municipality is dealing with tax increases.

“In Windsor’s case, we’ve asked for (city-funded agencies, boards, and committees) to come in with a budget like this. I know some areas are really tough, like policing, but here we are with ERCA coming in with zero per cent. I really applaud you.”
