Russian President Vladimir Putin may be known for hard stares, but at a global forum in Turkmenistan he set the internet buzzing with something softer: a wink.

Moments after wrapping up talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday, the Russian leader paused, looked straight at a reporter, and flashed a brief eye signal that was quickly clipped and circulated online.

The 3-second moment, posted by RT India, has since become the most-shared clip from the International Peace and Trust Forum — eclipsing even the heavy diplomacy on Ukraine and regional tensions.
