Less than a year after setting the record for Big Ten wins, Tom Izzo received a raise.
The Michigan State basketball coach’s contact was amended to include a $1 million bump in his supplemental income and boost his annual salary to $7.2 million. Michigan State’s Board of Trustees approved the deal during Friday’s meeting and the amended contract goes into effect on Jan. 1.
With the raise, Izzo remains the Big Ten’s highest-paid coach and ranks fourth nationally – behind Kansas’ Bill Self ($8.8 million), Arkansas’ John Calipari ($8.0 million) and UConn’s Dan Hurley ($7.7 million) – according to the USATODAY salary database.
