After a lengthy court case, a Canadian judge has ruled in favor of Air Canada in a legal battle pertaining to a passenger's somewhat sneaky compensation claim for delayed luggage. The airline was originally ordered to pay more than $2,000 CAD ($1,450 USD) to reimburse expenses after the passenger's bag went missing on a transcontinental flight.
However, Air Canada disputed the initial ruling on its liability, saying the passenger's claim was "excessive." In the most recent development of this years-long saga, a federal court has handed the airline a victory over the passenger.
