Mermaid costumes sold on Amazon for three years have been recalled because they pose a danger to kids who wear them.
The SKCAIHT Children’s Little Mermaid costumes were sold for about $30 on Amazon.com from March 2022 through July 2025, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The commission said the costumes “contain a prohibited phthalate, which violates the federal phthalates ban. Phthalates are toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.”
Phthalates are chemicals used to make plastic more flexible.
