On Saturday at 11:41 a.m. a lake effect snow warning was issued by the National Weather Service valid from 4 p.m. until Monday 7 a.m. for Mercer and Venango counties.
"Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches," adds the weather service. "Localized higher amounts may occur Sunday afternoon into Monday with lake effect snow bands."
"Travel could be very difficult Sunday into Monday. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute," explains the weather service. "If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1."
