Travelers arriving at Pittsburgh International’s new terminal will now be greeted by VisitPittsburgh’s new welcome center — where staff members and AI-powered touchscreens will introduce them to the city.

Jerad Bachar, VisitPittsburgh’s president and CEO, said that even though many travelers use their phones for research, it’s important for his organization to offer a physical presence at the airport to answer questions and provide advice.

And what better location than just feet away from the entrance to the arrivals level, where thousands of customers pass by each day?

“This position was absolutely key,” Mr. Bachar said.

Staffers will be on-site at the welcome center to assist customers during the airport’s heaviest traffic periods, which tend to be in the mornings and late afternoons
