EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The Evansville Police Department arrested a man for drug dealing after he ran from police.

Officials say 42-year-old Damon Maffett refused to stop during an early morning traffic stop Thursday.

They say the officer stopped following when Maffett sped through a stop sign at Weinbach Avenue.

The vehicle was later found in the 1400 block of S Harlan Avenue, and Maffett was located behind a house.

Officers followed Maffett’s footprints in the snow and found a handgun, a plastic baggie tested positive for THC and black sock filled with narcotics.

They say thermal imaging of the items determined they had just been placed there.
