SALT LAKE CITY — December, 12, 2025 — After two decades leading Utah football through one of the most successful eras in program history, Kyle Whittingham’s tenure has come to an end.
In a press release from Utah Athletics, the program announced Whittingham has retired from his role as head coach of Utah football.
Whittingham, 66, has served in that role since 2005. He has guiding the program from the Mountain West to the Pac-12, and then again into the Big 12. His tenure included two Pac-12 championships (2021, 2022), 15 bowl appearances, and 177 career victories, making him the winningest coach in school history and 38th all-time in all of college football.
