A provincial program offering permanent residency nominations in Sarnia-Lambton, in a bid to staff hard-to-fill job postings , has turned into a retention tool.
So says Cari Meloche with the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership, after it turned out “the majority of the applicants” to a Rural Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) pilot running until year’s end “were already working in Lambton County.”

Sarnia-Lambton is guaranteed 200 spots in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program in 2025, in the Ontario Labour Ministry REDI pilot program.
Areas not selected for the program have no nomination guarantees.
