SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter County deputies say a man was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license when drugs were found.
Late Wednesday night, Dec. 10, deputies found cocaine and other narcotics after arresting a man for charges of driving with a suspended license.
That night deputies saw a vehicle driven by a person they say is known to have a suspended driver’s license.
The driver who was identified as Jaquan Frederick Dewand Murray-Benjamin stopped the vehicle and then attempted to flee on foot.
Deputies detained Murray-Benjamin and saw suspected crack cocaine in plain view inside the vehicle, says the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
A probable-cause search led to the discovery of additional illegal narcotics.
