The mother of a paperboy who vanished without a trace more than 40 years ago refuses to give up hope he's alive and well – even claiming he once returned to tell her a harrowing truth. ‌

Johnny Gosch was just 12 when he mysteriously went missing while delivering early-morning newspapers on September 5, 1982. Witnesses reported seeing a blue vehicle pull up beside the youngster to ask for directions near Marcourt Lane in West Des Moines, Iowa, reports the Mirror. ‌

Around 10 minutes later, a tall man was spotted following the lad along his usual route. But shortly afterwards, two other paperboys stumbled upon Johnny’s wagon, abandoned with the undelivered papers still inside and Johnny was gone. ‌
