CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Supreme Court on Friday issued an order granting a motion for direct review of the ongoing vaccine exemption case out of Raleigh County.

The petitioners — the state and Raleigh County boards of education, along with their respective members and superintendents — filed the motion for direct review of the lower court ruling granting a permanent injunction.

In tandem with a decision to expand the case with a class action certification, the injunction effectively blocked the education boards from denying religious exemptions for required student vaccinations.

But the high court issued a stay earlier this month halting the enforcement of the injunction as well as further proceedings in the case until the petitioners' challenge to the granting of class
