J.J. Watt, elder brother of Pittsburgh Steelers star T.J. Watt, posted on X on Friday that the linebacker had surgery to treat a partially collapsed lung that he suffered Wednesday following a dry needling treatment session at the Steelers training facility.

Dry needling is a technique used by physical therapists and other trained providers to release tight muscle “trigger points” and to relieve pain. It's called "dry" needling because the fine needles that are used are solid. Nothing is injected into the body, unlike a traditional "wet" injection, such as a vaccine or steroid shot.
