INDIANAPOLIS — After four long months of debate, the issue of mid-decade redistricting in Indiana has come to an end.
The Senate voted down the proposed map Thursday afternoon by a vote of 31-19.
After months of debate, phone calls with President Donald Trump and two visits from Vice President JD Vance, the question about whether Indiana should redraw its congressional districts was finally answered by 21 Senate Republicans who said no, siding with their Democratic colleagues.

"This is going to be an interesting year to watch now. In effect, this vote yesterday showed that there's a clean split in the Indiana Republican Party," said IU political science professor Paul Helmke, adding he doesn't think the split will keep Senate Republicans from working together on le
